Junior Horizons to Darwin and Brisbane

It can be a daunting experience for some students to travel a long way from home and families, especially for the younger students. This is why we recently launched new Horizons excursions to Darwin and Brisbane for students in Grades 5 and 6.

Students from our Northern Territory partner communities had the opportunity to visit Darwin and enjoyed activities such as learning about local wildlife on Corroboree Billabong and meeting with the NT Thunder AFL team.

Our Queensland partner communities enjoyed a trip to Brisbane, which included a cultural kayaking experience and art workshops on Stradbroke Island and meeting Indigenous role-models from AIME, CareerTrackers and ACU.

“My favourite activities from the camp were the Black Card Cultural Tour. It was fun learning about other people’s culture,” said Naomi from Woorabinda State School.

Every student has the opportunity to get chosen by their school to attend a Horizons trip. All they need to do is work hard, try their best and go to school every day. We are so proud of all the students we work with!
